Lovita Tandy moderated “The Business of Practicing Law in the New Millennium: Understanding Law Firm Economics and Knowing How to “Put Yourself Out There” at the 12th Annual Leadership Institute for Women of Color Attorneys Conference.
The panel featured Amy Cheng (founding partner, Cheng Cohen LLC), Shawntel Herbert (Partner Cheng Cohen), and Allegra Lawrence-Hardy (founder, Lawrence & Bundy). The panel discussed how firms make money, how attorneys contribute to the process, in-house counsel economic pressures, and shaping a successful career. Lovita served as Vice President of the Leadership Institute from 2007-2017 and currently serves as CFO.
The 12th Annual Conference was held from March 22-March 23, 2017 in Atlanta, GA. Aisha Christian (Founder, Bigtooth Ventures and Former General Counsel, Rent the Runway) and Carletta Higginson (Corporate Counsel, Music Publishing Business Development, YouTube and Google Play) received the annual Leadership Awards.
The Leadership Institute provides mentoring, networking, and professional development opportunities to women of color attorneys nationwide.
